Victoria Falls Bike Rental Company (Vic Falls Bikes) is a new company that seeks to change the way people get around Victoria Falls going forward. Victoria Falls is a small but very scenic town and there is really no reason why people should be driving. Our business model seeks to address this anomaly by providing a green and cost-effective way of going around the city.
All around the world people are going green and green mobility is the way to go. Green mobility aims to reduce both air and noise pollution from transport, and to address climate change in the transport sector through mitigation and adaptation. The sector already contributes 23 percent of global energy-related greenhouse gas emissions and 18 percent of all man-made emissions in the global economy. It, therefore, makes sense that people should drive or be driven only when absolutely necessary. Every visitor to Victoria Falls must play their part in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and opting to ride 1 of our bikes is a good start!
Bike accessibility is the most critical requirement if ever people are to be encouraged to ride. Almost everyone can ride a bike but very few are willing to go out of their way to access one. Now imagine if bicycles were readily available where you are staying whether it’s a hotel, lodge or Airbnb. That would definitely be a game changer. But then again, hotels or lodges are not in the business of bicycles or maintaining a fleet of bicycles, it is very cumbersome and that is not their core business.
With an initial fleet of 100 bicycles fitted with state of the art electronic locks and running on advanced bicycle rental software that allows for third parties to independently rent out our bicycles, the stage is set for Victoria Falls’ Green Revolution. No hotel or lodge needs to own or maintain bicycles but they can rent them out as part of the partnership we are proposing.
